Purchasing shoes and mattresses is not an easy process for me. I went to many different stores to try different kinds of mattresses and did a great deal of online research on customer satisfaction with mattress types and manufacturers.

Because I have always slept on firm or extra-firm tight top inner spring mattresses, I focused on the 3, 3.5 and 4 firmness levels. The second night I noticed that the mattress had become a bit firmer. The instructions ask that the mattress be allowed to expand for 48 hours.

My guess is that the firmness of the mattress base is affected by the expansion of the foam and the amount of air that goes into the foam and the latex top. To me this mattress does not feel like an inner spring, memory foam, or pure latex mattress. The pure latex mattresses that I tried were a bit bouncy and very hard (even for my taste). I find that this Ultimate Dreams Latex Mattress does not require a topper.

"My other mattress - only 2 1/2 years old, is also a latex model that copies the Tepurpedic brand. In the morning I always felt sore because the damn thing would not give in and although everyone else I know loved it - plus I paid $1000 for it, it just did not work for me. I felt bruised and sore and had difficulty finding a comfortable position to sleep.
 
This LUCID by LinenSpa 10" mattress solves the problem for me because it has a 2 1/2 inch memory foam built in which is soothing to my aching sides and back. I know people say it's harder than soft, but if you ever had the Temperpedic classic you'd know what hard is or the knock off copy which I had. I am finally getting a better night's rest, thankfully and for a very good price too. 

OK - it has support in the dense foam beneath the top 2 1/2 inches but that 2 1/2 does it for me. I always had been taught that firm is best - but I guess when you have certain back problems you need a little comfort and this is working for me. The LUCID by LinenSpa 10" Memory Foam smell is slowly dissipating. It's about a week that I'm using. 

No lumpiness - very smooth and you will sink in - sometime I move to another spot to sink in fresh. It is much better in mornings with much less soreness in my back - so not completely mushy but definitely not firm firm. I'd say medium with a nice topper of give."

This Sleep Innovations 12-inch mattress is FIRM. It conforms to the shape of your body, the way you would expect memory foam to, but within the body conform it becomes firm. I have not found it hard to move about it, and requires no special effort to turn over or sit up as some reviews stated. Other reviewers compared it to a marble slab, and I don't think it is quite that firm, however, if you don't generally like a very firm mattress, you won't like this bed.

Sleep Innovations 12-inch Sure Temp Memory Foam Mattress product has been very helpful with lower back and leg pain. It has not improved my shoulder injury. I no longer toss and turn. I go to sleep and wake up the next day fully rested and when I sleep on my side, my arms no longer fall asleep and go numb. This is a great product, superior in ability and more than comparable in price to a traditional mattress. Highly recommended!
